Wow... let me tell you that life is crazy! Not even three weeks ago I decided to move to give up a teaching job in Washington (I will say that I had been feeling stressed about it since day one) and move to Hawaii. I did so on faith and a lot of prayer. In the last 14 days since the BM (Big Move... not be confused with a term involving excrement), I've probably had as many interviews, maybe more. Moving to Hawaii was kind of a scary thing, but honestly things have just seemed to fall into place for me. I know that it was the right decision.
First off, I randomly found an AMAZING deal ($300/month including utilities) on a great apartment with good roommates within the first day and a half. Secondly, I just got hired on at a public school in the area to teach. Considering the school year started July 31st, I didn't even apply to any teaching jobs coming over here, but HAPPENED to talk to the Department of Education and give them my last bit of information just in case. Thank goodness I did that, because they submitted my name to a school and now I start Monday! It'll be a LOT of work playing catch up with the last three plus weeks of school, but I'm SO blessed to have found a teaching position at all. Just more of a sign to me that if you FAITHFULLY do what you know you should, then God blesses you in ways you couldn't have predicted.
So, I'm going to be teaching 7th/8th grade Life Skills/Computer Science classes. Although I'm NOT technically certified to teach either of those classes, this should prove to be very interesting. Actually, I'm really excited and think that it will be a lot of fun! I'll keep y'all posted.
Well, it's about that time for me to head out for the day to go learn more about this teaching position and start some lesson planning. And then after, it's learning how to surf with my boyfriend. Wish me luck!
P.S. Sad to say, I haven't even taken one picture yet in the 2 weeks that I've been here! I'll work on that and on sharing them as well. Okay, strike that... just took two of the view from my apartment, which can be found at the top of this blog.
