Project Baby: 19 Weeks (Baby Boy!)

This week growing this baby was a momentous one!
  • First of all, Evan got to feel the baby move for the first time. On Wednesday morning (LEAP DAY!), Evan cuddled up next time me in bed and put his hand on my belly. No sooner had he put his hand on my belly than the baby kicked at his hand. Evan said, "Was that the baby?" It sure was! He got to feel the baby move around a few more times that morning and a few more times since. Such a cool thing for Evan to FINALLY be able to feel a little of what I've been feeling for 3 weeks. Also, I'll never forget that leap day... the day Evan got to feel the baby "leap" for the first time! :)
  • Another huge occasion for us is that I had my "20-week" ultrasound on Saturday and found out the baby is a boy! I'll post pictures from the ultrasound as soon as I get a second to scan them, which probably means in a week knowing my schedule. Read more about the ultrasound HERE.
  • I started getting really bad "charlie horses" (correct spelling is evading me at this point) in my calves this week. In fact, one on Thursday night was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I woke up crying and had to have Evan help me massage my calf. 3 days later, my calves are STILL sore. Isn't it crazy what pregnancy does to your body?!
  • I walked into Target for a Boppy body pillow (It has already saved my life at night!) and ended up deciding to check out the maternity section for the first time in my life. Well, I sure am glad that I did, because I found TWO pairs of my size maternity pants on sale for $10/each! One pair is jeans (worn in the pictures) and one pair is slacks. I'm really excited. I do have to get them hemmed, but so glad that the pants were so cheap, adorable, and comfy too.
  • I got sick again this week with a cough and a cold. Man, my immune system has been down for the count with this baby! I really think I've been more sick (not only with pregnancy-associated nausea) during this pregnancy than I ever have in such a short time in my life. So crazy. My cousin said it's not only because my immune system is down, but that a huge majority of the vitamins I'm eating are going to the baby. I can't wait to feel better!
  • I have been OBSESSED with orzo pasta this week. (Read about the recipe HERE.) Seriously, I think I could eat orzo every day! Evan and I made it twice for dinner. I tried to get a third time in there, but Evan said he'd make something else for dinner. I'm not sure why with this pregnancy I get on a kick to eat the same foods for a week or so before I move on and get obsessed with a new food. I wonder what week 20 will bring!
  • GOOD NEWS THIS WEEK: I can drink water like a normal human being again and it doesn't make me nauseous. So grateful for this. I cannot fully express how grateful I am for this. I LOVE water. That is all I drink. It's nice to have that one thing back!
By the way... as I looked at these pictures, I realized my belly has grown! I look WAY MORE HUGE in the pictures than I feel like I look in real-life. But, people were asking for side shots of my belly, so here they are at 19 weeks! 2 more days and I'm half-way done with this pregnancy. The past 20 weeks felt like FOREVER! I hope the next 20 go by quickly so we can meet our little boy!

Couldn't help but throw this crazy one in there... Evan got me laughing so I'd do a better smile. Such a crazy, but true-to-life picture! :)

Try a shot of orange juice for the charlie horses..It worked for me. I'd wake up multiple times a night with them when I was pregnant and OJ always did the trick!

Congrats on it being a boy! They are so much fun!!

I love it Sarah! You look adorable! I'm so excited for you! I'm glad you're starting to feel better.

Maternity pants are so comfy, I didn't buy any with my first two but with Brooke I gave in and I don't know what I was thinking not buying a pair before! It's the best thing ever!:) Glad you found a good deal!
